About DHW Law

A small firm built on long relationships.

DHW Law, P.A. is a two-partner Florida firm celebrating 25 years of practice across the state. We built it on a simple idea. A family should not need a different lawyer for every chapter of their life.

David and Gwen Walkowiak founded DHW Law on a commitment most firms couldn't credibly make. Every client would work directly with an attorney, and every client would leave the first meeting knowing their options, a realistic timeline, and what it was going to cost.

25 years later, the same clients keep coming back. They come back for new matters, they refer their children and their neighbors, and they find us again when a different problem surfaces a decade on. That happens because the people they started with are still the ones answering the phone.

What we practice

Between us, we cover seven practice areas. Real estate and foreclosure defense, estate planning, civil court mediation, personal injury, consumer debt defense, immigration, and civil and commercial litigation. David's board certification in real estate law and Supreme Court certification in civil and family mediation shape a large part of the firm. Gwen's focus on estate planning, real estate, and immigration shapes the rest. Alex strengthens the real estate practice with years of closing experience and a Florida real estate license.

Our community

Gwen serves on the Boards of Directors of Christian Social Services and Angel of Hope Memorial Gardens, two Tampa Bay nonprofits that do real work for real people. David founded the USF Ice Bulls hockey program, coaches high school hockey, and serves on his church council. Those commitments are part of why we put down roots in this corner of Florida in the first place, and why we have no intention of leaving.
